how this differ from VM ware product ?

Hi Navnit,
Apologies for not responding for so long. Vmware is one of the products which uses virtualization. It uses "Full Virtualization" as a technique to perform virtualization. Because it uses Full virtualization it needs a large amount of dedicated memory to perform optimally. So for example: On a system with 256MB RAM you could not run more than 1 instance of Vmware optimally.

Cheers
Arvind

What about computer forensics in a virtualised environment? How would one be able to analyse activities on a guestOS?

So you mentioned there are two approaches to detect whether its a VM image or actual OS. But how does an attacker can use it for spreading infection. ? Say, I installed my web app on 3 VM image. Attacker has infected VM image A. But it cannot affect my vm image B ? Is that correct ?
